Did you know nature has its own frequency? That's right, outside in nature there is a particular frequency that flows through the air and into your body and it has a profound healing effect on your nervous system. You have surely felt it walking down your favorite country road, following a beautiful trail in the forest or feeling the refreshing mist of a waterfall.
We know that being in nature is healing but there is even more to the story.
The funny thing about these negative guys is that they have a huge positive effect on us! That’s right, negative ions give us positive vibes.
What exactly are negative ions? They are odorless, tasteless, invisible molecules that are naturally present in certain environments such as the beach, mountains, and waterfalls. When we breathe them in, they produce biochemical reactions that can boost our serotonin levels, helping to ease depression, bust stress and give us that extra boost of energy.
These negative ions are created in nature as the air molecules get broken apart with sunshine, radiation and moving air and water.
Pierce J. Howard, PhD, author of The Owners Manual for the Brain: Everyday Applications from Mind Brain Research and director of research at the Center for Applied Cognitive Sciences in Charlotte, N.C. says that negative ions increase the flow of oxygen to the brain; resulting in higher alertness, decreased drowsiness, and more mental energy.
All this from just breathing in some fresh air? Sounds good to us! We live on the central coast of California so we are lucky enough to get a dose of negative ions every time we step outside! When is the last time you got to connect with nature and really breathe it in deep?
Imagine this- A beautiful beach with calm waters surrounded by rolling green hills and a forest along the coast line. You are surrounded by friends and other members of the community enjoying yoga, meditation, guided hikes, healthy vegan food and other fun surprises. You are enjoying this and the added benefit of all those negative ions doin’ their thing as you breathe them in. Better energy, better mood, nice scenery- let’s go!
If the scene above sounds exactly like what you need, join us for a special day retreat in San Simeon on Saturday April 3rd. San Simeon State Beach is a beautiful beach on the central coast just across from Hearst Castle.
We are so excited to be tuning in with Khristine of 9th Limb Yoga Studio in Morro Bay & vegan chef extraordinaire Courtney to host an event that brings together a community that shares a collective intention of healthy living & has an appreciation for nature.
The day will include community, tea, yoga, vegan lunch, a guided hike, and a restorative sound bath. Sign up here.
Barefoot hiking is encouraged, for bonus points!
Come play outside with us and let’s tune into nature together!
